How listening to other people’s advice helped me go through handling addiction

My biggest success today was understanding that I was wrong about thinking that I knew what was best for me. Especially when I was doing drugs, I had this ego that I knew what I was doing and what was best for me. Getting advice from other people wasn’t acceptable to me; I always thought that I knew what I was going to throw and others didn’t understand anything. Now, I see that since I ended up where I was, I didn’t know what I was doing and what was good for me. And also, something changed here, because now when I get advice from staff, I appreciate it and take it to heart because I know their intentions are good, and they are working to help me save my life. There is nothing wrong with putting your ego aside and accepting help, especially when you see that those people really care about your well-being.
