I Understood the Reason Why I Started Taking Drugs

A vital part of the Narconon drug rehab program is the development of strong life skills that help our graduates preserve their sobriety once they go home. One of our life skills study courses teaches our students the difference between a social personality who will be a safe friend and associate, and an antisocial personality who can’t be trusted. With this training, our graduates know how to choose the right friends who will support their sobriety. Here’s the statement from one of the students who completed this training.

“On this course, I have learned how to recognize antisocial and social characteristics. I have learned how to differentiate the good characteristics and the bad ones before I make a decision about a person. I have learned that the characteristic of the antisocial person is to not want to see other people do better than him. What he really wants is to put others down because of his insecurity. The social personality helps others to be good, do well and succeed in life.

“From now on I can recognize the people that I need to stay around and the ones I don’t have to be around with. I believe in myself, I know that I can help other people and I can succeed in life.

“Also, on this course, I understood the reason why I started taking drugs. The reason was because I was hanging out with some guys who were liars. I trusted them but they took a lot of money from me.

“At that time, was I under a lot of stress because of money but when I started using drugs, it seemed like all the stress went away. However, I finally realized that the stress wasn’t really going away. My problems were really growing more and more.

“Now I don’t let people lie and influence me like that…”

“Now I don’t let people lie and influence me like that. And if it’s necessary, I know how to cut off their communication before they try to influence me. I want to thank my life skills supervisor for his support and for explaining things carefully to me.”
