The Best Birthday that I Ever Celebrated
I am writing this success story on the celebration of my 33rd birthday and I want to make it public for certain reasons which I will say afterward.
Since I was a little kid, my family always tried to secure a better life for me without struggle, but at 18 years old, my life started to change for worse, for myself, my family and my friends. For reasons which I hadn’t discovered yet, I started gambling and taking drugs. Someone can think that this came from my teenage years, from friendships or even from material goods, but no matter what the reason was, this was the beginning of a downhill battle.
During the 15 years of being trapped by drugs and gambling, I lost my personal values, which led me to not confronting anyone or anything. I always tried to find ways to put the blame on others and not on myself. I was living in an imaginary world, losing touch with the present. The drugs caused me to make up many lies, which, at times, I even believed those lies. That caused me to create a lot of damage in my business, my family and the groups I was a part of. This is what addiction to drugs and gambling offers one in life—it is the worst combination to ruin your life and the lives of those around you.
One day, a miracle happened. After meeting a friend that finished this program, I saw how he changed and I decided to follow his steps. When I came to Narconon, I was fully aware and willing with a clear purpose to change my life and to become free from drugs and gambling.
After 78 days, the Narconon program has changed me completely. First of all, I’ve cleaned my body from toxins. Now I can breathe free and I can live an active life full of sports. Now I am finally living in present time and I am preparing for my future like I dreamed it. I can face different people and situations without a problem. My communication has changed completely and I am a better listener. I’ve learned to control myself and others in any given situation. I don’t need drugs and gambling to “raise” my mode or adrenaline. Today, better than ever, I’ve learned what it means to be free of drugs and gambling.

My work and thoughts go forward only on the betterment of my abilities and getting rid of any bad habits, so I can finally become a good man to my group, a better child to my parents—for them to finally be proud of me, to provide strong support for my brother, and to be a good husband to my wife and a great father to my child.
That’s why today, even without my family, I will call today the best birthday that I ever celebrated because I am in the company of many students who, like me, want to change their lives, and I am with the wonderful staff who are dedicated 24-hours a day to set a good example for society. For this, I thank my family who have been close to me without any doubts.
