My First Steps Sober Were Not Easy—But It Was Possible

Since I finished the Program in Narconon Balkan, it was a little stressful and I was unsure how I could handle everything around me. As soon as I started to live with my family, it was hard in the beginning but every time some conversation or action of my mother was making me go down in tone and emotion, I handled this situation by applying the communication drills and then, everything went smoothly. I was getting a little upset because the first two months I was living full-time with my parents and my fiancé, I had moments that I would’ve gone “down” emotionally but in those moments, I always went to do some action, and immediately I would go up in tone.

It was not easy but it was possible. I started to go to work on time. I started with and still am working eight hours a day and also at night. In my life, I’ve never been this productive. So, for me it's the biggest gain to be doing this.

I handled a few people who tried to contact me when I came back home. I stopped this communication right away as that was the group I was part of and that helped enable me to addiction—and I feel amazing. Every action I learned I put into practice in each area in my life. I started to feel proud of myself and I started to put attention on truly caring about myself. I now live in a rented apartment with my fiancé and with my dog, the communication with my family is perfect, I go out with them, walk and talk normally and slowly I am gaining trust again.

I have still work to do over the next years but for now, everything has meaning. I’ve finally worked on a couple of good projects, was paid for the first time in all my life, I opened a bank account and soon, I am starting University.

I am living a normal life and for me, this kind of life never existed.

Every time I wake up and every time I go back home after work, I feel happy, truly.

Everything is going so well. I cannot believe how useful the plan is that I made in the last course of the program. Everything went well.

I have still work to do, to handle, and move up through all the situations I had made in life, but for now, I feel free inside me, and all thanks to Narconon Balkan.
